Increasingly the world we live in is become distanced, and that’s often viewed as a negative change.
So how does remote therapy compare to face to face therapy? that’s what people want to know.
I’ve been doing both types of sessions for 10 years now, and the results I have experienced support the large volumes of scientific research that has been done showing:
- No difference with achieving recovery
- No difference in perceptions of a therapeutic relationship
There are also a number of advantages of remote therapy:
1. It offers convenience to fit around travel, work and childcare and removes travel time
2. It allows you to access the best therapist for you regardless of location
3. In my experience clients are more willing to share difficult thoughts and feelings remotely than in person, thereby helping sessions to be more effective
4. It can help remove anxiety thereby allowing you to absorb more learning
5. It makes therapy accessible for those with disabilities/housebound
6. Sessions can easily be recorded for playback
